CITY OF VICTOR JULY 4TH PARADE AND ART FAIR UPDATES

It's time to start thinking about the Fourth of July PARADE and ART FESTIVAL! Important changes and information on the 2023 parade schedule follow.

The July 4th parade will be on Tuesday, July 4, at 10:30 am. Line-up begins at 8:30 am. This year, we ask EVERYONE to submit their application for the July 4th parade IN ADVANCE.

Instructions To Register for the 4th of July Parade:

Please register your float now by printing or filling out the Fourth of July Parade Form Application electronically and bringing it into City Hall, emailing a completed form to michelles@victoridaho.gov, or mailing it to P.O. Box 122 Victor ID 83455.

Instructions To Register for the Art Fair: 

The 2023 Art Fair will be held July 2 through 4 at the Victor City Park.  Please submit your application by printing or filling out the Art Fair Application electronically and bringing it into City Hall, emailing a completed form to michelles@victoridaho.gov, or mailing it to P.O. Box 122 Victor ID 83455.

Craft Fair Vendors will be in City Park from 10 am to 6 pm. 

7:00 am-9:30am: Flag Ceremony and Breakfast- Victor City Park. The Lone Wolf Wrestling Club (Teton Wrestlers) will host this fundraiser.
 

8:00 am: The 4th of July Mile &5K- Race registration will be located at the Kotler Ice Rink parking lot before the event. The Teton High School Track Team hosts this event. (Line up at 7:30am)
  

10:30am Parade- (Line up on Elm Street at 8:30am).
  

10:00 am-6:00 pm Craft Fair in Victor City Park- This Event will run July 2nd through July 4th.

Post Parade: Head on over to Victor City Park after the parade where the Lone Wolf Wrestling Club (Teton Wrestlers) will be selling lunch.

Alan Wobbeking- a local vocalist/entertainer will be playing music on the Victor Stage.

Reawynn Hill will be signing the National Anthem.

Please remember that road closures will be in effect starting at 10:15 AM. Please use detours and try to arrive early. Once the detour goes into effect, Hwy 33 at 7000 S through Hwy 33 at W 9500 S will be closed to all through traffic until the parade is over and Main Street is cleared out.

Local Artist Displays at City Hall

ROAD CLOSURE: Contractors for the City of Victor are making critical improvements to our community's wastewater collection system. Construction of new sewer lines and a lift station will necessitate occasional lane and/or road closures. Cedron Road will be closed at the intersection of Cedron Rd and Crystal Ave on Wednesday Nov 1st starting at 6 AM. Crystal Ave will be closed starting at 6 AM on Wednesday Nov 1st and will remain closed through Nov 2nd.

During this time, drivers should expect detours for road closures to facilitate the efficient completion of the project, but drivers will not be prevented from accessing properties and residences along the affected roadways. The detour that will be in effect for this closure is by means of 2,000 West and Highway 31. Local emergency services providers have been notified of this project and remain able to respond in the event of an emergency. Residents may call the city for more information. Thank you for your patience during this project.

UPDATE - CONTINUED ROAD CLOSURE: Cedron will remain closed Friday Nov 3rd until late afternoon, then again on Monday Nov 6th until noon for paving.

Please keep in mind that Trick-or-Treating is available through out Teton County. There are several other subdivisions and homes that love the trick-or-treaters to visit. If Brookside is to busy for you, head on out to other areas in Victor and either do a trick or get a treat.

The Teton Basin Ranger District plans to continue with its multi-year Red Creek prescribed fire project beginning Sunday and Monday September 17-18 ahead of a predicted storm on Tuesday. Work will occur over the next several weeks within the Red Creek Prescribed Fire Project Area just north of Highway 31 in the area of Pine Creek Pass. To read the full press release click here.

Another Road Closure

Jackson Hole’s Charture Institute is inviting residents of the Greater Tetons Area to participate in a comprehensive on-line public opinion survey about the region’s future. 

The survey will run between Tuesday, September 5 and Friday, September 22, and is open to all full- and part-time residents of the Greater Tetons Area: Teton County, WY; Teton County, ID; and Wyoming’s Star Valley. To take the survey, click HERE.

 The survey was commissioned by the Jackson Hole-based Charture Institute, as part of its efforts to better understand the people and character of the Greater Tetons Area. The survey is being conducted by Keating Research, a Telluride, CO-based survey research firm specializing in gauging the views of northern Rockies residents.

“Over the past few years, many folks have expressed concerns about where our community and region are headed,” said Jonathan Schechter, Charture’s Executive Director. “Rather than simply speculate about those feelings, I commissioned what I think is the region’s first formal, scientifically-valid survey of residents’ attitudes.” 

Schechter continued: “Our effort started last week with a random telephone survey of the region’s residents. For the next two-plus weeks, we’ll complement the phone poll with an on-line version of the same survey. The on-line version is open to everyone living in the Tetons region, and my hope is that any resident who cares about our future will take a few minutes and fill out the survey. That will give us the clearest-possible understanding of how residents feel about our where our community is and where it’s headed.” 

The survey asks both numeric and open-ended questions, with the goal of understanding residents’ views: likes and dislikes; where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. Along with basic demographic information, the survey poses questions such as “On a scale of 0-10, how much do you like living in the Greater Tetons Area?” and “When thinking about the region’s future, what makes you optimistic? Pessimistic?” 

Respondents may take the survey in English or Spanish, and Charture will repeat the survey annually to track regional trends. 

The survey’s basic findings will be presented at the Teton Leadership Center’s Kickoff Summit on September 23 at Jackson’s Center for the Arts. Tickets for that event are available at https://tetonleadershipcenter.org/conference/

Victor City Now Accepting Letters of Interest for P&Z Commissioners, URA and DRC Board Members and upcoming Council Elections. 

Victor, Idaho, July 17, 2023- The City of Victor is accepting applications from community members wishing to serve the community. The City of Victor has a few seat terms expiring in September on the Planning & Zoning Commissioners, Urban Renewal Agency, and the Design Review Committee. To be eligible to serve on the Planning Commission, applicants must have resided in Teton County, Idaho, for at least two years. To be eligible to serve on VURA and DRC, applicants must reside in Teton County, Idaho. 

The City Council has three seats opening, two(2) City Council Seats and one(1) Mayoral Seat at the next general city election for a four-year term. The next general city election will be in November of 2023. To be eligible to serve on the Victor City Council, applicants must be Victor residents and qualified electors. To view election information to be placed on the November ballot, please visit www.victoridaho.gov or www.tetoncountyidaho.gov for important election calendar deadlines and forms.

John Foster was awarded with his Road Masters Certificate last night at the Victor City Council meeting through the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council. John has completed the T2 program that consists of Road Scholar- Level I and the Road Master- Lever II. All together John has completed 160 hours of training and 22 courses. John worked for the Town of Jackson Public Works Department for several years and has been with the City of Victor Public Works department for the last 5 years. 

The LHTAC Council and T2 Advisory Board moved forward with developing a new training program within the T2 Center. The Leadership Development Program is aimed at emerging leaders within the local agencies. These leaders can be at any level from road crewman, to clerks, to crew chiefs to  supervisors.

The cities, counties and highway districts are responsible for the majority of roads within the state of Idaho — over 32,000 miles of highways, roads, and streets.  These highways, roads and streets are seeing an ever-increasing traffic demand. With the increased demand and new technologies comes the need for more diverse skills and knowledge necessary for maintenance and preservation activities on the roadways.  The transportation professionals that are constructing and maintaining these roadways need to be recognized for their efforts at keeping up-to-date on the new technologies and skills required to construct and maintain effective highway systems. 

John has successfully taken courses in: First Aid, CPR, Roadway Materials, Pavements Maintenance and Preservation, ATSSA Flagger Certification, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician, Roadway Drainage, Environmental BMPs, Speed Limits and Speed Zones plus 9 more elective courses. John has been a great asset to the City Public Works department and staff is proud of him for this outstanding achievement.

ROAD CLOSURES FOR STREET MAINTENANCE on July 8th 2023.

All watering of lawns are prohibited on the 7th and 8th. 

Multi-family/HOA's developments: Please notify your tenants. 

Door hangers/ posters will be placed closer to the date of the work.

On Saturday, July 8th starting at 7:30 A.M. the City will be applying a microseal surface as part of the street maintenance program. This asphalt maintenance is being funded by your roadway levy money. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that we can work together to help maintain our streets and avoid costly replacements. 

The Public Works Department will be sweeping roads this Wednesday July 5th and Thursday July 6th in preparation of the treatment. The following streets will be closed for the maintenance between 7:30 A.M. until  late afternoon on July 8th: The maintenance crews will need full access to the roadways. Any vehicle that is parked on these streets after 8:00 A.M. will be towed at the owner's expense. 

Willow Creek Subdivision:  Teal Trail, White Owl Way, Red Hawk Way, Blue Bird Way, Willow Creek Way, and Herron Circle.

Mountain Shadows Subdivision: Mountain Shadows Way, Housetop Lane, Baldy Mountain Dr, and Aspen Street (within the subdivision)

The roadways need to be dry and cannot be sprayed during application. Please turn off all of the sprinklers on this day. City Staff may enter your property to shut down the sprinklers. 

DO NOT DRIVE on fresh oil until barricades are opened by city staff.

TRASH/RECYCLE CONTAINERS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET.

If you plan to be out of town, DO NOT leave vehicles and/or trailers parked on the street.

The product should readily wash off vehicle fenders, etc., with soapy water if cleaned soon after contact. If not removed quickly, it may be necessary to use a petroleum-based solvent.

Drivers are cautioned not to drive on the fresh Oil prior to opening of the streets.

The City of Victor will not be responsible for the removal or clean-up of the product tracked onto private property, floor coverings, vehicles, etc.

As Spring advances and Summer approaches, it's important to remind citizens to drive slowly on neighborhood streets. With more people outside enjoying the warm weather, please be mindful of your speed to ensure everyone's safety.

Speeding in residential areas can have devastating consequences. By driving slowly, we have more time to react to unexpected situations and avoid accidents. 

Victor's Public Works Department maintains a digital speed-feedback trailer that they move to a different location each week to discourage speeding. The City also regularly requests the Sheriff to conduct speed patrols. If you would like to see the speed trailer in your neighborhood or would like to have an increased patrol presence in your neighborhood, please contact the City at 208.787.2940. 

Let's all commit to driving slowly on neighborhood streets this summer. It only takes a few extra seconds to arrive at our destination, but it can make a world of difference in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Local non-profits serving the Victor community and joint powers organizations are invited to apply. Applications are due by June 8th, 2023, and funding will be dispersed through the 2024 Tin Cup Challenge.

Grant funding must be used for programs or activities accessible to Victor's Community:

Community Development and Service Programs (human, welfare, and community)

Historical, Conservation/Preservation Programs  

Other non-profits or organizations that preserve or enrich the general well-being or fitness of the community
